HAN UIL

BACKGROUND:
When I was about 14 years old I took keyboard lessons. I had one of those Yamaha ones with small keys for tiny fingers and a build in rythm box. But quickly realised this wasn't an instrument for me to play.
I bought a Hondo electric guitar and started taking some lessons when I was 15. This was my instrument! Being a Dire Straits fan at a young age I still can't remember why I bought a keyboard in the first place.

I started writing and recording songs on an analog Marantz 4-track in the mid nineties and made two accoustic albums under an alias Purple Shadow.
I also used to play in a couple of bands back then: Vertical Reality (grunge rock), The Lounge (alternative) but most notably the symphonic rock band Antares. With Antares we released the album 'Choking the stone' in 2001 and performed on ProgPower 2002 Europe.
In 2005 Antares split up. A couple of months before the split I started writing and recording material for a solo album. The album 'Alone' was released in 2006. This is a melancholic, slow paced singer-songwriter style album. A real grower but boring as hell to most :-) The album consists of eight original works and a cover of the wonderful Peter Hammill song "Just good friends"

In that year I also auditioned as vocalist for Seven Day Hunt and started writing lyrics and recording vocals for 'File this dream' as soon as I got the 'job'.
